Cold Sores (Fever Blisters)
By Steven Horne, RH (AHG) & Kimberly Balas, ND

A cold sore is an infection of the Herpes simplex virus that causes a painful, oozing group of blisters usually located around the lips. They turn into a scabby sore. Cold sores are also known as fever blisters.

VS-C is very effective at eliminating cold sores and preventing their recurrence. It was originally formulated for herpes.
L-lysine has also been used to both treat and prevent the reoccurrence of cold sores.
Black walnut extract, Tea tree oil, and Peppermint oil can be applied topically to help heal the sores.
Try applying Tea tree oil to the sore at the first sign of tingling. This will usually clear them in less than a day, and often in just a few hours.

Where the cold sore has scabbed over, try applying golden salve.
