PLANTAIN Plantain Extract
Plantago major
Properties: Antiseptic, astringent, bactericide, diuretic, emollient,
expectorant, hemostatic, vulnerary.
Parts Used: Leaves.
Historical Uses:
Plantain has acquired a worldwide reputation in traditional
medicine as a soothing cough suppressant.
It has been used in cases of cystitis, gastric hemorrhage, hemorrhoids,
and various skin inflammations.
Plantain has also been employed to soothe sore throat and treat
blood poisoning, herpes virus, and to expel worms.
It is said to enrich mother's milk.
Externally, it has been applied to poisonous stings and bites
such as mosquito, spider, and snake bites, and to burns and inflammations.
Contraindications: None.
Adverse reactions: None.
Dosage: 30 to 40 drops following meals.
Externally, apply as needed.
For sore throat, trickle extract down in throat as needed.
