WHITE OAK BARK
[730-7]
Astringent that shrinks inflammation and bleeding.
Quercus alba
White Oak bark is a strong astringent that has been used in case of anal
fissures and hemorrhoids; also to halt diarrhea and dysentery.
It can be used externally as a poultice or internally short-term to stop
bleeding.
It can be made into a decoction for external uses such as infections, sore
throats and digestive tract inflammation.
Externally, it is used to cleanse and shrink poison oak, bites, stings as
well as surface wounds and sores.
It causes capillaries to constrict and thus reduce bleeding.
Simmer 4-6 capsules in a pint of water for 30 minutes to make a decoction
for external use.
Use both inside and outside for varicose veins and fatty tumors
