PLUG-IN AIR FRESHENERS

Friends don't let friends use plug in air fresheners. It is so easy to replace these with aromatherapy and a scent ball plug in diff-users. Essential oils, and in particular lemon, help to remove unwanted odors form the air, without leaving behind persistent chemical residues that can linger in the house for days, weeks, and even months. Although the essential oil on a scent ball pad is used up in a few hours, it is easy to use, non-toxic, and pleasant smelling. And it leaves no toxic residue.

I was recently perusing ConsumerAffairs.com and I came across this letter from "Mary of Susanville", who wrote:

Glade scented oil Plug-Ins are a dangerous product, particularly if small children are around ... My husband unplugged the product because the deodorant was getting too strong in the kitchen, he placed the bottle on top of our new Maytag refrigerator, out of harm's way. Somehow the bottle was tipped over and the oil ran down the side of the refrigerator and was not discovered until the next morning. This oil took the finish off our new $2,000.00 side -by-side Maytag right down to the bare metal. Two types of Glade Plugs-Ins were recently recalled because they were implicated in home fires. According to a February 5, 2002 report on KIROTV, Glade confirms that it has received more than 1000 complaints over the years, including the Plug-Ins overheating, melting, and catching fire.

3 drops pine
2 drops lemon or lavender
Drop onto a scent ballpad and diffuse.

Citrus Room Deodorizer

9 drops lemon
7 drops pink grapefruit
6 drops red mandarin
2 ounces purified water
Combine oils and water in spray bottle.
Shake well and spray to combat odors and infectious microbes.
