Sex Drive (low) (Frigidity)
By Steven Horne, RH (AHG) & Kimberly Balas, ND

Sex drive or libido is a very complex mechanism. It involves physical, psychological and emotional causes. Low libido may be due to low thyroid, low cholesterol, poor function of the adrenal and reproductive glands or just plain fatigue.

Libido is also related to attraction, and a lack of sex drive in a relationship is often due to unresolved emotional issues in the relationship. Recent studies show that more women than men suffer from low libido.

Stress is a factor in reducing sex drive, so stress management can be very helpful, as can adaptogens to help reduce the output of Stress hormones.
Besides stress, unhealed sexual abuse is also a factor in low sex drive. Counseling emotional healing work may be necessary when the cause is primarily emotional.

The following can help increase a low sex drive when the cause is physical.
